For motorcycle owners seeking a clever, low-maintenance way to keep tabs on their ride, the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 delivers intelligent, user-friendly motorcycle tracking.
Compact, easy to conceal: The SmartTag 2’s slim, lightweight design can be tucked discreetly into hidden compartments or under panels on your bike, making it harder for would-be thieves to spot or remove.
No ongoing costs – zero subscription needed: It runs entirely over Bluetooth Low Energy, relying on Samsung’s SmartThings Find network rather than GPS or cellular services. This means once you’ve purchased the device, it works without any subscription or ongoing fees
Crowd-powered location updates: When your bike is out of Bluetooth range, other Galaxy devices nearby anonymously relay its last location through SmartThings Find – offering peace of mind even when you're not within earshot
Rugged and long-lasting: With an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and a replaceable coin-cell battery, the SmartTag 2 is built to withstand the elements and deliver months—potentially up to 500 days—of reliable power
Smart features mashup: The programmable button allows for custom actions (like triggering a smart home routine), and UWB-equipped phones unlock precise “compass view” navigation to the tag when nearby

Not as accurate long-range as GPS: While Bluetooth plus the SmartThings Find network performs well in close proximity, it doesn't offer the pinpoint precision—or global reach—that GPS-based trackers deliver.
Ecosystem-locked: The SmartTag 2 only works with Samsung Galaxy devices. It’s not compatible with iPhones or other Android brands—though some workarounds exist (more on that below).
Setup requires a Samsung phone: Initial registration and full-feature use require a Samsung Galaxy device running the SmartThings app. Without one, you won't get full functionality.

Fully compatible phones (required for setup, full tracking features, UWB precision, etc.) are Samsung Galaxy devices meeting the following criteria:
Running Android 9 or higher (for basic Bluetooth functions) Samsung itWikipedia.
For UWB-backed “compass view”—models must support UWB and have Android 11 or above, including (but not limited to) these:
Other Samsung Galaxy phones that meet the requirements (Android 9+) but lack UWB will still support basic SmartTag functions—like location tracking and ringing—but without precision guidance.
For motorcycle owners who are already in the Samsung ecosystem, the Galaxy SmartTag 2 is a standout value: discreet, durable, utterly hassle-free with no ongoing fees, and backed by smart tracking features—all wrapped in a compact design that you can hide on your bike easily.
If you’re not using a Samsung phone—or rely on iOS—some important functionality won’t work. But for Samsung users, it’s genuinely one of the most budget-friendly, low-friction ways to keep your bike secure and track its location.
Search nearby (precision guidance): In SmartThings, open Life → Find → More → Search nearby to use signal strength—and UWB/AR on supported phones—to home in when you’re close.
Ring the tag: Life → Find → Ring to make it sound off.
Get directions to last location: Life → Find → More → Navigate to open your navigation app.
Notify when left behind: Life → Find → More → Notify when left behind; add safe places (e.g., home) to avoid false alerts.
Notify me when it’s found: If it’s out of range, turn on Life → Find → More → Notify me when it’s found to get an alert when the network sees it again.
Notify when moved: Life → Find → More → Notify when moved to receive alerts if your bike (and the tag) is moved while you’re away.
Lost Mode (NFC contact info + lock): Life → Find → More → Lost mode, enter your contact details, and turn it on so finders can tap the tag with NFC to see your info.
Add a Home-screen shortcut: Life → Find → ︙ → Add to Home screen for one-tap access.
Hide it where it won’t be crushed by seat pans or fairings and away from heavy metal shielding; do a quick Ring test before buttoning the bike up.
If your phone supports UWB, test Search nearby around the bike so you know the sweet spots before you ever need them.
No pairing pop-up? Add it manually via Devices → + → Samsung devices → Tag/Tracker, or scan the QR code (see above).
Moving the tag to a different Samsung account/device? In SmartThings, go to Devices → ︙ → Remove device for that tag—removal resets it so it can be added again.
