When it comes to motorcycle kit, there are some things you don't necessarily think you'll need until the moment you actually need them. A decent torch is definitely one of those things.
The Sofirn SE1 Pro is a compact rechargeable torch that, on paper, might look like just another small flashlight. But after spending some time with it, I've found it to be a genuinely useful little tool to have in my motorcycle toolbox — or, more accurately, in the toolbox rather than sitting on top of it!
One of the first things that impressed me about the SE1 Pro is just how much light it produces for its size.
The torch produces up to 300 lumens, which might not sound particularly impressive when you compare it with some of the enormous high-powered torches available today. However, in a compact torch like this, 300 lumens is more than enough for most everyday situations.
The beam is particularly impressive. Rather than producing a tiny, concentrated spot of light, the SE1 Pro does a good job of illuminating a decent-sized area.
For something this small, it produces a surprising amount of usable light.
That makes it particularly useful when you're working on a motorcycle in poor lighting, looking around your garage, checking something at the side of the road or simply trying to find something you've dropped in the dark.
Where the SE1 Pro gets really interesting is with some of its additional features.
The torch incorporates RGB lighting, giving you additional colour options alongside the main white light. While these aren't necessarily features that everyone will use every day, they add a surprising amount of versatility to such a small device.
The different lighting modes can come in handy in situations where you don't necessarily want a bright white light, and they also give the SE1 Pro a little more functionality than your average compact torch.
Personally, though, I think the biggest selling point is simply having a small, powerful torch available when you need one.
Sometimes a product doesn't need to be complicated to be useful.

The SE1 Pro also comes with some handy ways of carrying or positioning it.
There are clips that allow you to attach it to clothing or equipment, while there's also a small strap that gives you another option for carrying it securely.
That means this isn't necessarily something that needs to live permanently in your toolbox.
It's small enough that you could easily keep it in a pocket, backpack, motorcycle jacket or other piece of riding equipment.
And that's where I think it really makes sense for motorcyclists.
You don't have to think about carrying a large torch with you. This is small enough to take along without really noticing it's there.

For me, the biggest attraction of the Sofirn SE1 Pro isn't necessarily all of its additional lighting modes.
It's the fact that it's a small, powerful and versatile torch that you can keep with your motorcycle.
Whether you're working on the bike in the garage, checking something after a breakdown, looking underneath the bike or simply trying to find something in your luggage at night, having a decent light available can make life considerably easier.
And because it's so compact, there's really very little reason not to carry one.
I've used plenty of small torches over the years, but some of them feel more like novelty items than genuinely useful tools. The SE1 Pro doesn't really fall into that
Absolutely.
The thing that surprised me most about the SE1 Pro is just how powerful the light feels considering the size of the torch.
It's one of those products where the specifications don't necessarily tell the whole story.
Yes, it's rated at 300 lumens, but what matters more is how effectively that light is used. The SE1 Pro produces enough light to illuminate a reasonably large area, rather than simply giving you a tiny pool of light immediately in front of you.
For general use, that's more than enough.
Obviously, if you're looking for a torch to illuminate something hundreds of metres away, you're going to need something considerably larger. But for everyday use, motorcycle maintenance, camping, walking and keeping in your vehicle, the SE1 Pro has plenty of power.
The Sofirn SE1 Pro is one of those little gadgets that is easy to underestimate.
It's compact, lightweight and packed with features, including RGB lighting, multiple mounting options, a rear magnet and a surprisingly powerful 300-lumen main light.
But ultimately, I think its biggest strength is its simplicity.
It's a genuinely useful little tool that you can throw into your motorcycle toolbox, backpack, car or pocket and forget about until you need it.
And when you do need it, you'll probably be very glad you've got it.
For me, that's exactly what makes a good bit of motorcycle equipment. It doesn't have to be flashy or complicated — it just needs to work.
The Sofirn SE1 Pro does exactly that, and for its size, it produces a seriously impressive amount of light.
