The SOFIRN SE1 might be tiny, but don’t let the size fool you — this little EDC torch is packed with useful features and genuinely earns a place in a toolbox, jacket pocket, or motorcycle kit.
After spending some time with it, I’ve come away seriously impressed
The first thing that stands out is the build quality. The SE1 has a full CNC-machined aluminium body that feels incredibly solid for something so compact. It’s genuinely tiny — roughly coin-sized at just 30 × 30 × 14mm and weighing around 20g — so it disappears into a pocket, tank bag, toolbox, or even clips onto a hat.
It also comes with a really useful quick-release clip system, lanyard, and magnetic mounting options. That magnet is stronger than expected too. Stick it to a toolbox, bike frame, car bonnet, or shelving and it happily stays put for hands-free lighting while you work. Perfect if you’re roadside trying to sort something on the bike in the dark.
Despite its size, the SE1 pumps out up to 300 lumens, which is far brighter than you’d expect from something this small. (sofirnlight.com)
It has multiple brightness levels, ranging from a low moonlight mode right up to full power. In real-world use, it’s ideal for:
Checking over your motorcycle at night
Finding tools in the garage
Emergency roadside repairs
Camping or walking the dog
General everyday carry
The beam itself is designed more for close-range practical tasks rather than long-distance spotlighting, and honestly that makes sense for this sort of torch.
But it still has a really good throw!
This is where the SE1 gets a bit more interesting.
Around the main button is an RGB signal ring with several different modes including:
Solid red
Breathing mode
Flashing warning lights
Rainbow lighting
It sounds gimmicky on paper, but it’s actually pretty useful for visibility, emergency signalling, or simply finding the torch in the dark.
It also includes a built-in 120mW UV light, which can be used for checking fluorescent markings, security features, leaks, or just messing about with UV-reactive materials.

This is genuinely where I think the SE1 makes the most sense.
It’s so small you can literally leave it attached somewhere on the bike or tucked into a toolkit permanently. If you break down at night, you’ve instantly got:
A magnetic work light
Emergency visibility lighting
A wearable torch
A waterproof backup light
The SE1 is rated IPX5 water resistant, so rain isn’t going to be an issue either.
And because it charges via USB-C, it’s easy to top up from a power bank or bike charger.
SOFIRN claims over 10 hours runtime in moonlight mode, and in real use it certainly feels like it lasts forever between charges considering how tiny the battery is.
Charging is quick too — around 45 minutes for a full recharge according to SOFIRN.
There are a couple of small things worth mentioning:
The battery isn’t replaceable
The UV light is more of a bonus feature than a professional-grade UV tool
Enthusiast flashlight users may want higher CRI LEDs or more advanced controls
But honestly, at this sort of price point, it’s difficult to complain too much.
The SOFIRN SE1 isn’t trying to replace a massive tactical torch or adventure spotlight. What it does brilliantly is provide an ultra-compact, genuinely useful everyday light that’s perfect for throwing into a toolbox, backpack, jacket pocket, or motorcycle kit.
For around $12.99 during launch promotions, it feels like an absolute bargain. It’s well made, properly practical, surprisingly bright, and packed with features you don’t normally see at this price point.
This is one of those gadgets that you don’t realise how useful it is until you actually start carrying it around daily.
Definitely staying in my motorcycle toolkit.
