In my humble garage of motorcycles, I’ve been fitting and testing the Chigee TR100 100W two-way charger, and honestly, it’s one of those gadgets that makes you wonder why this sort of thing hasn’t been standard for years.
At first glance, the TR100 looks like “just” a powerful USB charger for your bike – but it’s much more than that. Not only can it fast-charge phones, cameras, laptops, and other devices at up to 100 watts, it can also work the other way around and put charge back into your motorcycle battery if you’re stuck. That alone makes it a very interesting bit of kit.
My Suzuki V-Strom already has a factory USB socket, but it’s only around 1.5 amps, which means it takes forever to charge anything. That’s fine for trickling power into a phone, but useless if you’re running navigation, filming, or trying to top up devices on the road.
With the TR100, I can:
Fast-charge my phone in minutes
Charge cameras, spare batteries, and even a laptop
Carry a power bank and use it to give the bike battery enough juice to start if needed
For touring, commuting, or longer rides, that’s a massive upgrade.
The packaging is simple but solid, and everything you need is included:
The TR100 unit itself – compact, metal-cased, and very well made
Battery terminal connectors
The power converter / adapter
A solid metal mounting plate
3M adhesive pads
Velcro straps for cable management
The unit feels robust and confidence-inspiring – not cheap plastic that looks like it’ll give up after one wet ride.
Fitting it to the V-Strom was straightforward. Once the seats and the tank cover are off, you get easy access to route cables cleanly down to the battery.
The TR100 does need a direct connection to the battery. Normally I’d use my Thunderbox, but that wouldn’t allow the reverse-charging feature to work properly. Direct to the battery is the right call here.
Finding the perfect mounting position took a bit of trial and error thanks to handguards and limited space, but once mounted, it’s rock solid. Even pushing the unit moves the handlebars rather than the mount – always a good sign.
The adapter itself needs airflow and to be kept away from heat, so I mounted it under the seat where it’s well ventilated and secure.
A quick boost from a battery pack and you are good to go
Chigee include proper 100W-rated charging cables, which is important if you actually want fast charging.
The TR100 has:
USB-C (up to 100W)
USB-A
Plugging my phone in immediately triggered super fast charging, showing the same charge speed I’d expect from a home fast charger. That’s impressive on a bike.
When the ignition is off, the unit intelligently stops charging, but you can manually override that if needed.
This is where the TR100 really stands out.
With the bike off, you can:
Select the correct battery type (Lead Acid, AGM, or Lithium)
Plug a USB power bank into the USB-C port
Let the TR100 feed power into the bike battery
On the V-Strom’s lead-acid battery, the blue light confirms the correct mode. Once connected, the unit slowly pulses to show it’s charging.
This isn’t meant to fully recharge a dead battery, but it can give you enough power to start the bike, which could be an absolute trip-saver if you’re stuck somewhere remote.
The Chigee TR100 is a genuinely clever bit of kit. It’s not just a charger – it’s a charging solution for modern motorcycling.
Pros:
Proper 100W fast charging
Charges phones, cameras, laptops, and more
Can reverse-charge your bike battery from a power bank
Solid build quality
Smart battery protection and modes
Cons:
Needs a bit of thought when mounting
Direct battery connection required
Overall, I think this is excellent value for money, especially considering what it can do. If you ride regularly, tour, or rely on electronics, this is one of those upgrades that just makes sense.
If you’re thinking of picking one up, you can use the code TOMSTC on the Chigee website for 20% off, which makes it even better value.
