The all new DJI NEO 2 launched in the UK this week and it looks flippin' awesome, the new device takes all of the good stuff we got with the DJI NEO and squeezes it into another nice neat package but with even better specs!
So why as a motorcycle website and vlogger am I excided about this?
Well I brought the NEO back in the summer and it has proved to be a really great tool for making videos not only with my TOMSTC page but also on my other YouTube Channel Future Hasbeen!
With out further a do lets look into what is so special about this all new little drone!
If you are not already familiar as to what the DJI NEO is heres basically what it does
The DJI Neo is a compact, user-friendly drone packed with autonomous features that make flying effortless. It can take off and land from your palm, automatically track subjects using AI, and perform cinematic QuickShots like Circle or Rocket with a single tap. Built-in stabilization keeps footage smooth without the need for manual control, and it can even be operated with voice commands. The newer DJI Neo 2 builds on this by adding smarter obstacle detection using LiDAR sensors, more precise tracking, and an upgraded dual-axis gimbal for steadier, more intelligent flight — keeping that same hands-off, creative freedom the Neo is known for.
The Neo 2’s biggest upgrade lies in its camera system. It features a 12MP 1/2-inch CMOS sensor with an f/2.2 aperture—the same size as the original Neo’s, but now backed by improved image processing and performance.
The real transformation comes from the dual-axis gimbal stabilization, 4K/60fps video recording (up from 30fps on the original), and 4K/100fps slow motion, giving creators far more flexibility. DJI has also added 2.7K vertical shooting optimized for social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
Perhaps the most meaningful change is the move from single-axis to dual-axis mechanical stabilization, dramatically improving footage smoothness during complex movements or windy conditions. Combined with enhanced AI tracking and omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, this change makes the Neo 2 a far more capable tool for serious content creators.

The Neo 2 introduces a comprehensive obstacle detection system, combining omni-directional monocular vision with forward-view lidar and downward infrared sensing.
Forward sensors detect obstacles between 0.5–15 meters at speeds up to 8 m/s (17.9 mph).
Rear, side, up, and down sensors provide similar detection at up to 3 m/s (6.7 mph).
The infrared sensor offers distance measurement from 0.3–8 meters with a 60° x 60° field of view.
These additions address one of the biggest complaints about the original Neo—its lack of obstacle avoidance and occasional flyaways—making the new model far safer and more reliable.
DJI has also added a small LED display to the drone’s body, showing battery level, connection status, and flight mode at a glance, removing the need to check a phone or controller.
Battery capacity has been bumped to 1606 mAh (11.6 Wh), extending flight time to around 19 minutes (up from 18). The drone weighs just 151 g (or 160 g with the O4 module), keeping it well under the 250 g registration threshold in most regions.
Other performance improvements include Level 5 wind resistance (up to 10.7 m/s or 24 mph) and a maximum horizontal speed of 12 m/s (27 mph)—ideal for tracking fast-moving subjects such as cyclists or runners.

One of the Neo 2’s standout innovations is its removable OcuSync 4.0 (O4) transmission module, mounted at the rear. With the module attached, users gain compatibility with DJI Goggles N3, Motion Controller 3, and RC-N3 remotes, extending transmission range up to 10 km (6.2 miles).
Live transmission supports:
1080p/60fps via RC-N3 or Goggles N3
1080p/100fps with DJI Flight Glasses 3 and FPV Remote Control 3
This modular design allows buyers to start with a basic package and later expand into FPV or long-range setups, all while staying within the DJI ecosystem.
The Neo 2 retains familiar features such as palm takeoff and landing, voice and gesture control, and intelligent shooting modes including Smart Selfie, Sliding Zoom, Master Lens, and One-Click Short Film. Notably, gesture control is new to the Neo lineup, further simplifying operation for beginners.
DJI has significantly enhanced the Follow mode, which now includes intelligent follow, a new Riding Scene mode, and Focus and Surround options. The maximum tracking speed has been raised to 12 m/s (27 mph)—a solid jump from the original Neo’s 8 m/s (17.9 mph)—making it much better suited for capturing active subjects.
AI-driven tracking also benefits from the upgraded sensors and processing power, maintaining subject lock even during complex movements or changes in direction.
